In 1955, Agricultural Electrification was opened in Beijing Agricultural Mechanization Institute. In 2002, College of Information & Electrical Engineering (CIEE) was built by merging College of Electrics and Information of the former Beijing Agricultural Engineering University and College of Information Sciences of the former Beijing Agricultural University into one.

CIEE consists of four departments, including Department of Computer Science, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering, and Department of Geographical Information Engineering. CIEE has already built a complementary system for undergraduate, master degree, doctorate degree, and post-doctor cultivations.

CIEE has one State Key Discipline “Agricultural Electrification & Automation”, one MOA Key Discipline, one MOE Key Laboratory for Modern Precision Agriculture System Integration, and some research centers.

CIEE hosted a lot of National, Ministerial and Provincial projects, including The National Basic R&D Program of China, The National High Technology R&D Program of China, and many international collaboration programs. The annual value of technology extension is 2.2 million US dollars.

CIEE made great effort in Student Innovation Programs. Students from CIEE won the first prize of the Challenge Cup (National University Student Innovation Contest) and Beijing Electronic Design Contest for several times.
