China Agricultural University (CAU) attaches great attention to keep close relationships with the universities in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan areas. A number of agreements in promotion of scholar and student exchange and academic cooperation were signed with the universities including Chinese University of Hong Kong, Taiwan University, Chung Hsing University, Chiayi University, Ilan University, Pingtung University of Science and Technology and Feng Chia University. Student exchange programs were developed with Taiwan University, Chung Hsing University, Ilan University and Feng Chia University. In 2008, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology (Partner Laboratory in The Chinese University of Hong Kong) was established on the relationship between Chinese University of Hong Kong and CAU. The team in CUHK and the team in the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology of CAU are working together on the development of molecular biotechnology and its practical applications in terms of the increase of rice yields and the improvement of the nutritive value of rice and other crops. In 2006, CAU, Chung Hsing University, and Chinese University of Hong Kong jointly initiated the “Doctoral Students Forum on Food Safety and Human Health in Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan”. In September 2006, CAU held the first session, followed by six sessions in Chinese University of Hong Kong, China Agricultural University, Chung Hsing University, Jiangsu University, and Chinese University of Hong Kong. In August 2013, the 7th session was held in CAU, again. In every workshop, there are more than 200 participants involving institutions from Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, China. This workshop has become one of the main academic platforms on food sciences for young scholars, especially PhD researchers, to communicate, and with more and more people participating, the influence is growing stronger. The College of Information and Electrical Engineering in CAU and Research Center for Geographic Information in Feng Chia University have cooperated in academic and research for almost 20 years. In 2006, the college-college level academic cooperation agreement was signed. During the past 20 years, academic visits, guest lectures, and symposium were organized between the two colleges. Every year, there are faculty and students exchange programs. In 2010, the cooperation extended up to the university level. CAU and Feng Chia University signed the university level academic cooperation memorandum and the student exchange agreement. The book titled “Spatial Information Technology Theory and Its Application”, co-authored by professor Yan Tailai from CAU, professor Zhao Zhongming from Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor Zhou Tianying from Feng Chia University, was published in Mainland and Taiwan, China. Mr.Jiang Bingkun, former chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), and Mr. Chen Yunlin, former president of the Association for Relations Across the Tainwan Strait (ARATS) wrote the prefaces for the book. |
